Recent Projects
Real projects. Real addresses. Pulled from 10,000+ completed jobs across Plano, Frisco, Allen, and McKinney.
Builder-grade oak cabinets refinished to a soft white spray enamel. Doors were removed and finished off-site so the kitchen stayed fully usable through the project. Paired with a full interior repaint using Benjamin Moore Aura Interior low-VOC on walls and Advance waterborne alkyd on all trim. Color matched to existing crown molding throughout the main floor. Project completed in six days. Zero callbacks.
West and south elevations had UV-faded to a chalky grey from two seasons of Texas sun exposure. Full exterior stripped, primed with Loxon XP Masonry Primer on bare brick sections, sealed with elastomeric caulk at all transitions, and repainted with Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior. HOA color approval submitted and confirmed before scheduling. Holding up two North Texas summers in.
Foundation movement had opened hairline cracks across the living room, hallway, and master bedroom. This is common in older Canyon Creek homes built on expansive clay soil. Cracks were cut back, filled with setting-type compound, re-textured to match the existing knockdown, primed with a latex bonding primer, and repainted in one continuous project. One crew. One invoice.
Why Plano Homeowners Have Trusted Hutch-N-Son Since 1985
What separates a 41-year painting company with 10,000+ completed projects from a crew that showed up last year? Every one of these is backed in writing on every project.
| What Most Plano Painters Do | What Hutch-N-Son Painting Does |
|---|---|
| No written warranty — verbal promise at best, 30-day callback if you're lucky | Two-year written workmanship guarantee on every painting and drywall project. No runaround, no fine print. |
| Subcontract drywall to a separate crew — two companies, two standards, two invoices | Drywall and paint handled by the same in-house crew. One team, one standard, one invoice. |

| No formal cleanup process — job site left to the homeowner at end of day | Floors, furniture, and fixtures protected before work begins. Clean job sites maintained daily. Final walkthrough before payment — standard on every project. |
| Carry general liability only — no workers' comp, homeowner assumes the risk | $1M general liability plus workers' comp on every employee. Certificate of Insurance provided before any project begins. |
| Brush-on cabinet "painting" done in place — visible brush marks, no prep process | Spray-applied alkyd-acrylic enamel with doors finished off-site. Factory-smooth result, kitchen stays usable throughout. |
| Builder-grade or off-brand paint — cheaper product, shorter paint life | Premium paints like Sherwin-Williams Duration and Benjamin Moore Aura standard on every project. Never an upcharge. |
Most painters in Plano started within the last five years. We've been in the Plano area since 1984. Same ownership. Same standards. Our senior crew members have been with us 10 to 18 years, not rotating laborers hired week to week. When something goes wrong on a job — it happens — we're still here to fix it. That's what 41 years in one place actually means.
Most painting contractors in Plano subcontract drywall to a separate company. That creates two schedules, two price quotes, two sets of standards, and an accountability gap when the texture doesn't match or the patch cracks six months later. Our crew handles crack repair, patch work, texture matching, and drywall finishing in-house, then paints over it. One project, one warranty, one company to call if anything needs attention.
Cabinet refinishing in DFW is a crowded market, and most of it is brush-on latex applied in place with the doors still hanging. The finish is soft, shows brush marks, and starts chipping within two years. Our process uses alkyd-acrylic enamel, spray-applied, with doors removed and finished off-site in our shop, then reinstalled furniture-grade smooth. We've been doing it this way since before "cabinet painting" became a trend. The difference is visible and tactile.

How We Work
Process
Five steps. Nothing surprises you.
The same process runs on a single bathroom repaint and a 10,000 sq ft commercial project. Every step is written, timed, and agreed before we show up.
Free In-Home Quote
We walk through the project in person, take measurements, note prep requirements, and deliver a flat-rate written quote within 24 hours. No price ranges. No "we'll know more once we start." One number, in writing, before we schedule anything.
Color Consultation
Included on every project at no charge. We bring Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore sample boards and apply test patches in your actual light, not in a showroom under fluorescents. Color matching to existing trim, cabinetry, or flooring is handled at this stage. HOA color approvals are submitted here so there are no delays before scheduling.
Prep and Protect
Drop cloths down, furniture moved or covered, trim masked with siliconized acrylic caulk where needed, surfaces sanded, and primed. Any drywall repair happens here before paint goes on. This is where the quality of the finish is decided. We don't skip it to move faster.
Paint
Two-coat minimum, always. Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore as standard on every project, included in the flat-rate quote, never added as an upgrade. Second-coat application happens only after full first-coat dry time. We don't bring different paint to cut margin on jobs where the client isn't watching.
Final Walkthrough
We walk the project with you before the truck leaves. If anything needs an additional touch, it gets done before we close out. Our interior projects carry a two-year workmanship warranty. Exterior projects carry three years. Both are in writing.
41 Years in This Market
Why Plano homeowners hire a painter with 41 years in this market
North Texas weather and soil are hard on paint. Most contractors don't account for either.
Texas heat and UV destroy cheap paint fast.
Plano summers run past 100°F for weeks at a time. The sun at this latitude breaks down exterior paint faster than in most parts of the country. Builder-grade paint that came on a new home in West Plano usually starts chalking, fading, and peeling within two to three seasons. Once that starts, you're not just repainting. You're stripping failed paint first.
Clay soil cracks your walls year after year.
The expansive clay soil under West Plano, Willow Bend, Legacy West, and older East Plano neighborhoods swells in spring and shrinks in summer. That movement opens hairline cracks in drywall, corner bead, brick, and stucco. Painting over these cracks without cutting them back and repairing them properly is the most common reason new paint jobs fail within a year. We've seen it on hundreds of Plano homes.
Your HOA needs to approve the color before we start.
HOA boards in communities like Willow Bend, Estates of Prestonwood, and Kings Ridge require written color approval before any exterior repaint can begin. Some HOAs need approval even for repaints that match your current color. Missing this step delays projects by two to four weeks. We submit the paperwork as part of your free color consultation, so scheduling never gets stuck.
Sprinkler stains have to come off before primer goes on.
Hard water from sprinklers leaves white mineral staining on exterior brick and stucco across Plano and Frisco. If you paint over it, the stain bleeds through within months. We clean and treat these areas before any primer or paint goes on.
We've worked through every one of these conditions since 1984. We know what holds up in North Texas and what doesn't.
